Federal Express changed the name of its parent company from FDX Corp. to FedEx Corp. and will rename three of its business units, package carrier RPS Inc., expedited carrier Roberts Express and Global Logistics, to feature the FedEx brand name.

The company also announced plans to offer a new home delivery service beginning in March and to create a unified sales and service organization for all of its package and freight transportation businesses.
Under the new branding strategy, RPS will become FedEx Ground Package System. Roberts Express will become FedEx Custom Critical, and FDX Global Logistics will called FedEx Global Logistics. Federal Express will retain its name but modify its logo to FedEx Express.
No changes are planned for Viking Freight, the California-based regional less-than-truckload carrier acquired by FedEx along with RPS and Roberts in 1997, or Caribbean Transportation Services, an air freight forwarder that principally serves Puerto Rico. Because Viking’s operations are regional, FedEx officials said it would not benefit from the global FedEx brand promotion.
