February Import Prices Rise 1.4%

The price of goods imported to the United States rose 1.4% in February, the Labor Department said Tuesday.

The increase followed a revised 1.3% gain in January that was lower than originally reported.

Economists had forecast a 0.9% increase, Bloomberg reported.

Petroleum prices jumped 3.7%, and excluding fuel, prices rose 0.3%.



U.S. export prices rose 1.2% following a revised 1.3% gain in January, Labor said.
