FedEx Ground Sets 4.9% Rate Increase for 2014
FedEx Ground will raise its 2014 rates by an average 4.9%, the company announced Dec. 5.
The increase will take effect Jan. 6, and the Ground unit’s FedEx SmartPost rates also will change, parent company FedEx Corp. said in a statement.
FedEx Express announced in September that it will boost shipping rates by an average 3.9%, also effective Jan. 6.
FedEx Freight, the company’s less-than-truckload unit, raised its rates by 4.5% in July.
FedEx Corp., which will release its fiscal second-quarter earnings Dec. 18, is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
