FedEx’s LTL Units Set 5.59% Rate Increase

FedEx Corp.’s less-than-truckload units said late Friday they will implement 5.59% general rate increase, effective April 2.The increases for FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL will not affect other operating companies within FedEx Corp., including FedEx Express and FedEx Ground.FedEx Freight provides regional and inter-regional LTL services. The company rebranded the former Watkins Express as FedEx National LTL after acquiring Watkins last year.The increase will apply to interstate and intrastate traffic, and selected shipments between the United States and Mexico and Canada.Additional adjustments will include minimum and accessorial charges, as well as additional adjustments in select lanes and service areas, FedEx said.FedEx is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.(Click here for previous coverage.)
