Flatbed Hauler Is Added To Acklie Trucking Group

Duane W. Acklie, the owner of Crete Carrier Corp. of Lincoln, Neb., and three other truckload carriers, has added flatbed specialist Hunt Transportation of Omaha, Neb., to his trucking portfolio.

In addition to Crete, one of the most profitable trucking operations in the country, the Acklie group includes dry van truckload freight hauler HTL Truck Line of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and refrigerated truckload carriers Shaffer Trucking of New Kingstown, Pa., and Sunflower Carriers of York, Neb.

“Hunt Transportation is one of the best niche carriers in its class in the country today, and we are very pleased to own it,” Acklie said in announcing the purchase of the stock of Butler Holdings, the parent of Hunt Transportation, on Oct. 28.

Hunt hauls primarily construction and agricultural equipment for Deere & Co., Valmont Industries, New Holland and Caterpillar.
