FMCSA Publishes Final HOS Rule in Federal Register

Following last week’s announcement, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has published its final hours-of-service rule in the Federal Register.

The rule was published in Tuesday’s Federal Register. Click here to read the rule (text version) or click here to read as a PDF, which prints out at 55 pages. (U.S. government website.)

Announced by FMCSA last Thursday, the final hours-of-service rule changes restart provisions while leaving in place an 11-hour limit per day for commercial truck drivers.

Following the announcement, the immediate reaction was largely negative from trucking and shippers’ groups, and from some safety advocates who had wanted a stricter driving-hour limit.
