DETROIT — Several makes and models of Ford trucks have been recalled over possibly a defective fuel pump that can cause a loss of power and increase the risk of a crash. According to CBS News, the recall impacts an estimated 295,449 diesel-engine trucks from the certain 2020-2022 model years.

The recalled trucks include:

  • 2020-2022 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600
  • 2021-2022 Ford F-650, F-750

Documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say those with possibly faulty fuel pumps may experience “extended crank while starting, a Check Engine Light (CEL), noise and reduced engine power.” Ford says it is unaware of any injuries or crashes caused by the issue.

To correct the problem, Ford dealerships will update the powertrain control module software at no cost to affected owners. Customers will begin being notified of the issue via letter starting on Jan. 13, 2025.
