ORLANDO, Fla. — Freightliner unveiled a bevy of safety- and productivity-enhancing technology that the Oregon-based manufacturer plans to make available on selected trucks by the end of next year.
The nation’s top Class 8 truck maker announced a technology-laden model — the Century S/T — in September (10-18, p. 3). Anti-rollover systems, lane-tracking devices, brakes and truck productivity computers will be built into the vehicle.
“At Freightliner, we’ve chosen to invent the future by continuing to define the leading edge of safety technology, and to do so in a way that makes safety and productivity kindred spirits to making trucking a healthier, more prosperous, and more esteemed presence on the road,” Hebe said at a Nov. 1 news conference at American Trucking Associations’ annual conference.
