Frozen Food Express Cuts Jobs

Frozen Food Express Industries said it has reduced its workforce since January due to lower freight volumes and that it lower anticipated first-quarter revenues and earnings.

The company said it has cut its non-driver headcount by about 150 positions since the beginning of the year, including about 110 positions in the past two weeks.

FFE has also suspended its 401(k) matching contributions and is consolidating duplicative efforts within its operating units.

“FFE’s truckload and less-than-truckload volumes and earnings continue to be impacted by the severe economic recession,” said Chief Executive Officer Mit Stubbs.

Frozen Food Express is ranked No. 57 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
