Frozen Food Express Swings to 2Q Profit

Refrigerated carrier Frozen Food Express Industries, Dallas, earned $274,000, or two cents a share, in the second quarter of 2008, compared with a loss of $661,000, or four cents, in the 2007 quarter, the company said late Monday.

Revenue improved by 14.1% to $129 million, Frozen Food said.

Stoney “Mit” Stubbs, the carrier’s chief executive officer, noted that the current freight market is “the most challenging environment I can recall.”

Frozen Food Express ranks No. 57 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the U.S. and Canada.
