Gas Drops Below $4 a Gallon, Lundberg Says

Gasoline prices dropped 11.7 cents in the two weeks ended Friday to a national average of $3.9959 a gallon, the first time in more than a month that the average has fallen below $4 a gallon, the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations said.

Still, the average pump price was $1.11 a gallon higher than this time a year ago, according to the latest twice-monthly Lundberg Survey, which was released Sunday.

The cheapest gas was in Wichita, Kan., at $3.61 a gallon. Gas was most expensive in Anchorage, where a gallon went for $4.43, Lundberg said.
