Gas Plunges 35¢ to $3.31, Lundberg Survey Says

The national average price of regular gasoline plunged 35 cents in the two weeks ended Friday, to $3.31 a gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

Mid-grade averaged $3.45 premium, and premium averaged $3.57 nationwide, said analyst Trilby Lundberg in her survey, released twice a month.

The downturn followed falling oil prices, with crude closing below $80 Friday for the first time in a year.

Gasoline was cheapest in Wichita, Kan., at $2.79 a gallon, and most expensive in Honolulu at $3.91, the survey said.
