Gasoline Pump Prices Gain a Nickel, Lundberg Reports

The average price of regular gasoline rose about 5 cents over the past two weeks, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations, released Sunday.

Regular gasoline rose to about $2.80 a gallon, the twice-monthly survey said. Mid-grade was $2.92 and premium was $3.03 a gallon, oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said.

Oil prices hit record highs last week, topping at more than $90 a barrel in intraday trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange Thursday before receding to a record closing price of $89.47, Bloomberg reported.

The lowest average price was in Newark, N.J., at $2.56 a gallon, while the highest was in San Francisco at $3.17, the Lundberg Survey said.
