GeoLogistics to Close Forwarding Unit

GeoLogistics Americas, a unit of GeoLogistics Corp., Denver, said it will phase out its unprofitable domestic freight-forwarding operations as of Oct. 15 and concentrate on international freight forwarding and logistics.

The decision was made after a review of domestic and international markets and an analysis of the needs of customers.

“The international logistics marketplace represents the area of greatest growth and profitability,” said Malcolm Heath, president of GeoLogistics Americas.

The change will have no impact on GeoLogistics Network Solutions, formerly Bekins HVP, which provides distribution services for electronics and other high-value products throughout the United States and Canada, or on Bekins Household Goods, company officials said.
