Germany’s MAN Reports Improved 2Q Profit

German truck maker MAN AG boosted its 2007 earnings forecast as its second-quarter profit more than doubled on higher sales in Eastern Europe, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

MAN’s profit rose to 440 million euros, or about $600 million, from about $271 million a year ago, MAN said in a statement. Sales rose 9.1% to $4.75 billion.

Chief Executive Officer Hakan Samuelsson, who has reported profit growth every quarter since taking charge in January 2005, said 2007 revenue will increase more than 10%, Bloomberg reported.

MAN also had a $60 million dividend from a 15% stake in Swedish competitor Scania AB, which it tried to buy last year.
