G.O.D. Buys Titan Express

Guaranteed Overnight Delivery of Newark, N.J., has purchased Titan Express of Hillburn, N.Y., and will operate the company independently with no change in its management staff.

Titan provides less-than-truckload and truckload freight service to 32 states and generates revenue of $13 million a year.

The purchase will allow GOD to expand and diversify its service offerings to shippers.

"They handle much larger LTL shipments and their backhauls are oftentimes truckload shipments," said Lawrence Ravinett, vice president of marketing for GOD. "It’s another dimension for us. We’re geared to smaller shipments."

GOD operates a hub and spoke network in which all freight is picked up and delivered overnight. Titan uses a direct-load system in which freight moves from origin to destination without going through a hub.
