Greatwide Logistics Services said Oct. 7 it has substantially increased the operations capacity and capabilities of its transportation operations center by implementing new software programs.

The center, located in its headquarters city of Dallas, directs the operations for the company’s entire fleet of 5,000 trucks.

The move to new proprietary software has allowed the company to make its network more efficient, lower costs for customers and make shipments more visible for customers and Greatwide’s workers, the company said in  a statement.

“With the expansion of the TOC and the adoption of a single technology platform, we are realizing our vision for the facility — to better serve our customers through increased efficiency and visibility, and an overall reduction in transportation and logistics expense,” said John Simone, who is president of Greatwide.

“A stronger, scalable TOC, coupled with a leading transportation execution system, enables us to elevate the levels of service and support we can provide for our customers,” Simone said. “We look forward to leveraging our new capabilities to better serve them.”

Greatwide, which ranks No. 11 on Transport Topics list of the 50 largest logistics companies in the United States and Canada, said the ability to manage all of its dedicated contract carriage services from a central dispatch location allows the company to optimize capacity.

The services handled at the operations center in-clude dispatch, execution, distribution, procurement and planning, as well as billing and account settlement.

Information gathered through the centralized system also is used on its internal load board for freight management and reduction of empty, non-revenue miles.
