Gustafson Leaves Volvo Citing ‘Personal Matters’

Marc Gustafson resigned Feb. 2 as president of Volvo Trucks North America after four years that saw sales of Class 8 tractors from the U.S. subsidiary of the Swedish truck maker rise nearly 11,000 units then drop more than 5,000 units.

Volvo’s U.S. market share during that time fluctuated between nearly 9% and 13% but ended 2000 with a 12-month share of 10.7%.

A spokesman cited “personal matters” as the reason for Gustafson’s departure.

Former president Karl-Erling Trogen was named interim chief executive by the parent company, based in Sweden.
