Haulers Seek Change in Explosives Rule

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>Truckers and railroads fought last week for exemptions from a new federal rule that would prohibit certain people, including non-U.S. citizens and former felons, from possessing or hauling explosives (Click here for related coverage.).

Initially the groups won a one-week delay.

The rule was scheduled to take effect Jan. 24, but lobbying by American Trucking Associations, the Association of American Railroads and other industry trade groups secured a delay.
