Truckload carrier Heartland Express said its second-quarter profit declined 20% to $19.8 million or 20 cents a share, from $24.8 million or 25 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose 4% to $149.1 million, the carrier said in a statement.

The results declined because of higher costs and fewer sales of property and equipment, the company said.

Heartland Express is ranked No. 48 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire trucking companies.
