Hino Marks Record Month; Sees Medium-Duty Rebound Next Year

Hino Trucks said it is forecasting the Class 4-7 market segments to be flat this year, but has set a sales goal of selling 7,000 units in its fiscal year 2008.

The company said it set a record in March by selling retail sales of 900 retail units and achieving 15% market share in the Class 6 market segment, and 3% market share in the Class 7 market.

For its fiscal year ended on March 31, Hino Trucks had retail sales of 5,350 trucks, off 960 units from the previous year.

“As an industry, the Class 6 and 7 market segments were down 38% in our 2007 fiscal year,” said Glenn Ellis, the company’s vice president of marketing and dealer development. He said the company gained market share in both those segments, despite a 14%decline in sales year-over-year.
