Hino Trucks Signs Transmission Pact With Allison

Hino Trucks has signed a multi-year contract that makes Allison Transmission the exclusive supplier of transmissions for all Hino conventional trucks in the United States.

Hino, a subsidiary of Japan’s Toyota Group Co., said it has used Allison transmissions since introducing its truck lineup in 2004. Allison makes automatic transmissions.

The pact means Hino will offer a four-year warranty for Allison’s highway series transmissions and a three-year warranty for trucks having Allison’s series transmissions. The warranties begin with the 2012 model year.

The deal also means Hino and Allison will be working together on new technologies, according to Glenn Ellis, Hino’s vice president of marketing.
