Holmes Named President of UPS Freight

UPS Inc. said Wednesday that Jack Holmes, who has headed the operations of UPS Freight for the past year, has been promoted to president of the less-than-truckload unit.

Holmes, 47, headed UPS’ transition team after the company acquired the former Overnite Corp. in 2005. He will replace Gordon Mackenzie, who is retiring on Sept. 10.

For the past year, Holmes was the senior vice president of operations at UPS Freight.

UPS Inc. is ranked No. 1 on the 2007 Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, while UPS Freight is fourth-largest U.S. LTL company.
