I-95 Reopens in Philadelphia

A two-mile section of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia that was closed for more than two days reopened early Thursday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation gave the go-ahead for the highway to reopen at about 6:30 a.m., the paper said.

The busy north-south corridor was shut down in both directions for emergency repair work late Monday night, while work crews repaired a crack in a concrete support pillar.

The highway is expected to remain open through any extended work that will be needed to replace or repair the cracked pillar that led to the shutdown, the Inquirer reported.
