Idaho Mails First Batch Of Tax Refund Checks

The checks are in the mail for nearly 24,000 small trucking companies.

Those checks — totaling more than $4.7 million — are refunds for payments of the Idaho weight-distance tax, found to be unconstitutional as the result of an American Trucking Associations lawsuit.

Another $19 million is earmarked to be disbursed to 1,493 larger motor carriers at a later date, according to the Idaho Motor Transport Association.

The plaintiff attorneys will get $3.3 million.
