Illinois Association Expresses Interest In ATA’s Intermodal Conference

The Illinois Transportation Association is trying to build interest in taking over management of the soon-to-be defunct Intermodal Conference of American Trucking Associations.

ATA is disbanding the conference May 30 for financial reasons and replacing it with an Intermodal Policy Committee, which will meet for the first time at ATA’s Summer Leadership Meeting in June. The conference held its last formal meeting in Atlanta in April during Intermodal Expo.

“At our final meeting in Atlanta, we discussed the need to stay together and unite due to the disbanding of the ATA Intermodal Conference. It was my suggestion that given the great strides, legislation and strong railroad relations of our Illinois association that we change the name of Midwest Intermodal Trucking Association to National Intermodal Trucking Association,” Anthony Pacella, head of Cushing Trucking, Inc. Cicero, Ill., wrote in an April 18 letter to conference members.
