Import Prices Decline for Fourth Straight Month

The price of goods imported to the United States declined in June for the fourth straight month, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The 0.2% import-price decline followed a 0.7% drop in May. Economists had forecast no change, Bloomberg News reported.

The cost of imported petroleum rose 0.2%, while prices excluding petroleum declined 0.3%.

U.S. export prices declined 0.1% after dipping 0.5% in May, Labor said.



Import prices excluding food and fuel fell 1.1%.
