Import Prices Gain 0.2% in July

The price of goods imported to the United States rose 0.2% in July, the first gain in three months, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The increase followed a 1.3% fall in June that did not change in revision.

Economists had forecast prices to gain 0.3% in July, Bloomberg reported. Excluding petroleum, prices declined 0.2%.

U.S. export prices fell 0.2%, following a 0.7% drop in June, Labor said.
