Industrial Production Rises in April

Industrial production rose 0.7% in April, the Federal Reserve said Wednesday.

The gain in production at factories, mines and utilities followed a revised 0.3% decline in March that was steeper than the originally reported 0.2%.

The share of industrial capacity in use rose to 81.6%, from 81.2% in March.

The gain exceeded economists’ forecasts of a 0.3% increase, Bloomberg reported.

The factory sector is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
