Initial Jobless Claims Rise

Initial jobless claims rose last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims increased by 6,000 to 386,000 for the week ended Saturday, Labor said.

The initial claims figure was higher than economists’ forecasts of 375,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, rose to 382,000, from 378,500.

Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended June 2 declined by 33,000, to 3.28 million.
