International Backs New A26 Engine with Financial Incentives
International Truck introduced a reimbursement guarantee program for its new A26 12.4-liter engine for over-the-road trucks to underscore its confidence in the A26’s durability and reliability.
International is a unit of Navistar International Corp.
“We are so confident in the unparalleled uptime offered by the A26 that we are now offering a program that provides customers financial reimbursement if our uptime commitment is not met,” Michael Cancelliere, president of truck and parts, said in a statement.
If a customer experiences a warrantable failure on an A26 engine within its two-year standard warranty period and experiences downtime greater than 48 hours from the time of diagnosis, International Truck will provide the customer with a $250 International Advantage Card, good for parts and service purchases at an International dealership, subject to standard conditions. Customers may be eligible for a maximum of eight cards per vehicle over the two-year period, according to the Lisle, Ill.-based company.
The A26 customer uptime assurance program applies to all in-stock and already purchased LT and RH series vehicles with an A26 engine, and which are enrolled in the company’s remote diagnostics system or its telematics service, Navistar said.
The original equipment manufacturer debuted the A26 engine in February as a replacement for its N13 as Navistar seeks to reclaim customer loyalty that was severely tested after its “advanced EGR” MaxxForce engines made in 2010-12 failed to deliver the promised benefits — leading to lawsuits and cratering used-truck values for International trucks with the affected MaxxForce engine.
