International Sees Spurt in Class 8 Sales Through ’06

nternational Truck and Engine Corp. added its voice to a growing number of truck makers predicting Class 8 truck sales were on the verge of accelerating through 2006. And company executives predicted International could climb to second place from fourth in its market share of U.S. retail sales.

“I’ve come here to make sure that International wins in the business of being a full-line truck manufacturer. Part of that is absolutely to be in the Class 8 business and win in that business,” said Dee Kapur, the new president of International’s truck group.

Kapur, who joined the company Sept. 2 after 27 years with Ford Motor Co., spoke in a Sept. 23 conference call with the media emphasizing the company’s commitment to its Class 8 product.
