J.B. Hunt’s Income Jumps for 4Q, Year
J.B. Hunt Transport Services said Friday its fourth-quarter net income rose, as its trucking, intermodal and dedicated contract carriage units all reported improvement.
Net income rose to $57.9 million, or 46 cents per share, from $41.7 million, or 32 cents, a year ago.
Revenue jumped 16% to $1.02 billion, led by a 13% increase in intermodal revenue, the company said in a statement.
For the full year it earned $199.6 million, or $1.56 per share, up from $136.4 million, or $1.05, in 2009. Revenue improved 18% to $3.79 billion.
Fourth-quarter truck segment operating income was $4.4 million, compared with a $1.3 million loss a year ago. Revenue rose slightly to $118 million.
Intermodal operating income for the quarter jumped 30% to $69.9 million, while revenue rose 20% to $588 million. Load count rose 13%.
Dedicated contract services operating income rose 5% to $19.6 million for the quarter, while revenue rose 15% to $238 million.
