Jeffress Defends Draft on Ergonomics

SAN FRANCISCO — Occupational Safety and Health Administrator Charles Jeffress gave a sneak preview of the latest draft on ergonomics rules to the board of directors of American Trucking Associations.

“We will analyze your workplace, see where workers are getting hurt. We’ll look to see how you solve your problems,” he said during a Feb. 16 speech before members of the organization.

he draft, which was to have been placed on the agency’s Web site (www.osha.gov), contains a grandfather clause for companies that have programs in place that reduce repetitive stress injuries, Jeffress said.
