Jobless Claims Fall 4,000 for Week

Initial jobless claims fell 4,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The decline to 310,000 new claims was below than economists’ forecasts of 314,000, Bloomberg reported.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 304,500.

The number of people continuing to collect benefits fell to 2.472 million for the previous week ended May 19, from 2.524 million a week earlier, Labor reported.
