Jobless Claims Rise 22,000 for Week

Initial jobless claims rose 22,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Jobless claims rose to 378,000 for the week ended Saturday, Labor said.
 
The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, rose to 365,250, the highest since October 2005.

The number of people continuing to collect unemployment benefits rose to 2.865 million for the previous week ended March 8, from 2.833 million the previous week.
