Jobless Claims Unchanged for Week

Initial jobless claims were unchanged last week from the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims held at 479,000 for the week ended Saturday, above analysts’ forecasts of 475,000 claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 475,500 from 480,500.

The number of continuing claims rose by 12,000, to 3.715 million, for the previous week ended Oct. 18.
