June Industrial Production Rises 0.5%

Industrial production rose 0.5% in June, the most since February, the Federal Reserve said Tuesday.

The gain in production at factories, mines and utilities followed a 0.1% decline in May.

The share of industrial capacity in use rose to 81.7%, the highest in eight months. Factory output, which accounts for about four-fifths of the figure, rose 0.6% following no change.

The gain matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

The factory sector is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
