Kane Is Able to Expand in Pacific Northwest With Deal for Vintners Logistics
Kane Is Able Inc. has signed a letter of intent to buy Vintners Logistics, a company that specializes in warehousing and transportation of food and beverages for wineries and food processing companies predominantly in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018, company officials said in a Nov. 28 statement.
Terms were not disclosed.
Vintners Logistics was founded by Robert Thompson in 2007 and is based in Kennewick, Wash.
“I look forward to our combination with Kane Is Able because of the great resources they will bring to bear in developing our capabilities,” Thompson said in a statement. “Kane possesses deep experience in wine and spirits and shares our passion for this business.”
Prior to starting the business, Thompson worked for Morgan Distributing, Mount Hood Beverage and Ste. Michelle Wine Estates over 18 years.
Vintners Logistics operates a fleet of 16 tractors, two straight trucks and 26 trailers, according to registration data filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Kane Is Able, which is based in Scranton, Pa., ranks No. 28 on the Transport Topics list of top warehousing firms with 8.3 million square feet of space in 26 warehouses.
