Kelly Nominated to Head NHTSA

The Bush administration has nominated David Kelly to head the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Associated Press reported.

Kelly, who has served as acting administrator since August, was a top aide to Nicole Nason, who departed as NHTSA administrator last month, AP said.

NHTSA regulates auto safety and issues gas mileage requirements for new vehicles, and is in charge of the brake rule for heavy-duty trucks.
