Kentucky Trailer Acquires Majority Stake in CEI
Custom trailer and truck body manufacturer Kentucky Trailer announced it has acquired a majority stake in CEI Equipment Co., a provider of aluminum feed transportation equipment. Financial terms were not disclosed in a Dec. 20 press release.
CEI’s management team will not be disrupted by the transaction, according to the statement.
CEI, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been in operation for more than 40 years. It offers equipment in either straight bulk or combination bag and bulk designs ranging from 2-ton bodies to 30-ton semi-trailers.
Kentucky Trailer, which is the name by which R.C. Tway Co. conducts business, is a subsidiary of Alleghany Capital Corp. That parent company sources, executes and oversees industrial and nonindustrial investments and acquisitions for its own parent company, Alleghany Corp.
Alleghany Capital’s industrial businesses include R.C. Tway Co., Bourn & Koch Inc., WWSC Holdings and Wilbert Funeral Services. — Transport Topics
