Kenworth 76-Inch Mid-Roof Sleeper Now Available
Kenworth Truck Co. said its new 76-inch mid-roof sleeper option is now available for order with its T680 and T880 models.
Introduced at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show, the 76-inch mid-roof sleeper is tailored for liquid bulk tankers, flatbed haulers and other operators that prefer a lighter weight, more aerodynamic truck combined with the comforts of a high-roof sleeper for driver retention and recruitment.
Compared with Kenworth’s 76-inch high-roof sleeper, the new sleeper offers 100 pounds in weight savings for additional payload capacity and less aerodynamic drag with up to a 5% gain in fuel economy for tanker and flatbed applications, depending on load conditions.
The new mid-roof sleeper offers 6 and a half feet of headroom and liftable lower bunk.
The sleeper can be ordered with a factory-installed, battery-based auxiliary power unit system for idle management. Other options include a premium sound system and a mount for the customer to install a flatscreen TV.
With the new sleeper addition, the T680 is available with 76-inch mid- and high-roof sleepers, a 52-inch regional sleeper and day cab. The T880 is now available in day cab, 52-inch regional sleeper and 76-inch mid-roof sleeper configurations.
Separately, Kenworth said it is also offering a $3,000 rebate for U.S. and Canadian customers who purchase a new Kenworth Icon 900 truck financed through Paccar Financial by the end of this year.
The Icon 900 is a limited edition, premium truck introduced at MATS earlier this year.
