Kenworth’s New Remote Diagnostics System Enters Production
Kenworth Truck Co. has begun production of its TruckTech+ remote diagnostics platform on new Class 8 Kenworth models equipped with the Paccar MX-13 engine.
TruckTech+, introduced in March at the Mid-America Trucking Show, provides information on engine fault codes to fleet managers and dealers to help streamline maintenance and repairs.
The technology platform uses a factory-installed telematics system supplied by PeopleNet.
TruckTech+ not only diagnoses the problem; it also recommends a course of action to the driver and fleet manager, Kenworth said.
“Timely information enables customers to decide more quickly whether the truck stays on the road or heads to the shop, where the servicing dealer has the diagnosis and is ready to remedy the problem,” said Jason Skoog, Kenworth’s assistant general manager for sales and marketing.
Every new Kenworth Class 8 truck equipped with the Paccar MX-13 engine comes with a complimentary subscription to TruckTech+ during the standard two-year warranty or extended warranty, after which the service can be maintained through subscription.
