Key Senate Subcommittee to Examine Transportation Connectivity

An influential Senate panel that oversees truck safety issues is scheduled to meet Jan. 29 to gather input from industry leaders about ways to improve transportation connectivity around the country.

Led by Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), the Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security Subcommittee will hear from former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D), a staunch advocate for boosting federal funding to modernize aging infrastructure.

Rendell and former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood are the chairmen of the advocacy group Building America’s Future.

Other witnesses on Jan. 29 will include Jim Mullen, executive vice president and general counsel at Werner Enterprises; Lance Fritz,  president and chief operating office at Union Pacific Railroad; and Douglas Means, executive vice president and chief supply chain officer at Cabela’s, a specialty retailer company.
