Knight Transportation bought Action Delivery Service of Corsicana, Texas, and its affiliated company, Action Warehouse Services.
Action is a privately-held medium haul truckload carrier that serves the south central United States with a fleet of 50 tractors and 130 trailers. It had revenue of $5.6 million for the fiscal year ending in December.
Kevin Knight, the company’s chief executive officer, said the acquisition would improve Knight’s position in Texas and the south central states.
“It will primarily strengthen the areas we already had and build lane density in some we currently operate in,” he said.
Knight will issue 97,561 shares of its common stock for the two Action companies, which were involved in acquisition talks last year with Aamaxan Transport Group of Van Buren, Ark.
In January, Aamaxan said it was not in its best interest to buy the companies, citing a lack of information from Action.
