Knight Transportation said Wednesday its second-quarter profit declined on a “challenging operating and economic environment.”

Net income declined to $19 million, or 24 cents a share, from $19.3 million, or 24 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 3.6% to $245 million.

“We have continued to expand our market share in our wide range of truckload logistic services in a challenging operating and economic environment,” CEO Kevin Knight said.

“Our businesses continue to complement each other and enable us to provide our customers with truckload services that are efficient and valuable to their supply chain needs,” he said.

Knight Transportation is ranked No. 31 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
