Kriska Agrees to Acquire TransPro Freight Systems
Kriska Transportation Group Ltd. said it has agreed to acquire TransPro Freight Systems Ltd., based in Milton, Ontario, for an undisclosed amount.
It is the second acquisition this year by Kriska, a company based in Prescott, Ontario, that operates a number of trucking firms in eastern Canada, including Kriska Holdings Ltd. and Mill Creek Motor Freight. In May, the company acquired JMF Transport (1992) Ltee in Valcourt, Quebec.
The addition of TransPro will expand the group’s cross-border shipping business and provide expertise in freight brokerage that will benefit Kriska’s other operating companies, said KTG CEO Mark Seymour.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming another best-in-class company to the KTG family,” Seymour said in announcing the deal on Nov. 3. The transaction is expected to close by Nov. 30.
In May, TransPro made an acquisition of its own with the purchase of Trans-Send Freight Systems, a company that specialized in shipping high-value goods from Toronto to major metropolitan areas in the United States.
TransPro operates 110 tractors and 300 trailers and will continue to be led by the current management team that includes co-founder Eric Carusi as general manager.
The addition of TransPro boosts the size of Kriska’s fleet to 645 tractors and 1,950 trailers, company officials said.
