Landstar Ligon Gets New President

Landstar System installed G. Tom Beam as interim president of its Landstar Ligon subsidiary in the wake a proposed unsatisfactory safety rating from the Department of Transportation.

A Landstar spokeswoman declined to comment further on the situation at Landstar Ligon. The Madisonville, Ky., company is one of three specialized truckload carriers owned by the Landstar System of Jacksonville, Fla.

The company earlier said it will submit a corrective action plan to DOT in the hope of getting Landstar Ligon’s safety rating upgraded to conditional or satisfactory before the proposed rating takes effect Jan. 2.
