Landstar System is moving two longtime executives into new leadership posts, effective Dec. 1.

Joe Beacom, a 30-year veteran of the Jacksonville, Fla.-based logistics company, will become president of Landstar System Holdings and its agent-based transportation services companies. He will oversee growth initiatives and collaborative efforts with Landstar’s network of agents, owner-operators and truck brokerage carriers. Beacom will hold the position through 2025 before transitioning to special adviser to the CEO ahead of his planned retirement in early 2026.

“Joe is uniquely positioned to work across our executive leadership team to help accelerate our distinctive business model and drive our strategic growth initiatives forward,” CEO Frank Lonegro said in a statement.

Matt Miller will succeed Beacom as vice president and chief safety and operations officer, overseeing safety, compliance, trailer maintenance and operational solutions for Landstar’s capacity network of owner-operators and third-party carriers. A 15-year company veteran, Miller has held roles in safety, operations, finance and risk management.

“Matt’s wide-ranging experiences at Landstar and, more broadly, his engaging leadership style and passion for safety position us well for the future,” Lonegro said. Miller’s promotion marks his first entry into the company’s executive leadership team.

Landstar ranks No. 10 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 26 on the TT Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies.
