Landstar’s Earnings Improve for 4Q, Year
Truckload carrier Landstar System said Thursday its fourth-quarter earnings rose to $32.6 million, or 70 cents per share, from $24.1 million, or 50 cents, a year earlier.
Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 22% to $717.5 million, from $587.5 million a year ago, Landstar said.
For the 2011 fiscal year, income rose to $113 million, or $2.38 per share, from $87.5 million, or $1.77, a year earlier.
Revenue for the fiscal year rose to $2.65 billion, from $2.4 billion a year ago, the truckload carrier said in a statement.
Landstar System is ranked No. 8 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
